During the Norman Conquest, the French language was for a long time the official language in England. There was, therefore, mutual contact that facilitated borrowing between the English and French languages. That's how the borrowing process began. Today, among the translation techniques, the technique of borrowing words is one of the most commonly used. The mastery of these the translation techniques is a major asset for translators in that it facilitates the identification of the difficulties they might encounter during translation. However, it is noted that the technique of borrowing words is often used indiscriminately by some translators who find it difficult to identify borrowed words.This analysis, which focuses on a contrastive study of some borrowings in English and French, aims to address this problem by explaining the types of borrowings according to the established list and by comparing the frequency of the use of borrowed words in the two languages.The comparative method used in this analysis allowed us to demonstrate that the technique of borrowing words can be seen as a process of linguistic enrichment that enables languages to maintain their vitality, renew themselves, and evolve.
